Located in Melville, N.Y., the Income Tax Accountant (Accountant, Tax) will maintain tax records, prepare federal, state and local income tax returns, related schedules, and related reports. This position is full time and offers a hybrid work schedule requiring you to be in the office Monday and Wednesday and an option to work from home the remainder of the week (unless a specific business need arises requiring in office attendance on other days).  Note that work schedules and office reporting requirements may change from time to time based on business needs.

Responsibilities

- Collect, compile and analyze corporate financial information to ensure the preparation of accurate and timely filed federal and state income tax returns and related reports
- Review and discuss new and complex tax issues and legislation with management and make decisions which ensure the propriety of tax returns and maximization of tax advantages
- Attend conferences and training sessions to keep abreast of tax issues relevant to the company and provide proper tax guidance to top management
- Conduct detailed tax research to respond to specific tax related questions, advise management of legal interpretations which are in the best interest of the company
- Clarify supporting tax documentation for federal and state tax auditors in order to ensure favorable audit results

Qualifications

PLEASE NOTE: As a federal government contractor, we comply with all applicable federal laws, regulations, orders and mandates.  As a result, the person performing this role must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, unless the Company grants an exemption based on a disability/medical condition or sincerely held religious belief. 
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with 3+ years of income tax related experience is required, preferably with a big 4 accounting firm
- C-Corporation (federal and state) tax experience is required
- Master’s Degree in Taxation and/or CPA is helpful
- Due to the complexity and continually changing nature of tax legislation, candidate should possess continued professional education and training in the tax area to demonstrate current knowledge
- Requires thorough knowledge of tax codes and principles with strong research skills. Knowledge of CCH would be a plus
- Knowledge of OneSource and Sage desired. Must have strong MS Excel and Word skills
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
