Overview

The Collections Specialist II (Representative, Credit II) collects account receivables and past due items and coordinates resolution of customer chargeback claims, disputes, and billing issues.
 
This position is full time and offers a hybrid work schedule requiring you to be in the office Mondays and Wednesday and an option to work from home the remainder of the week (unless a specific business need arises requiring in office attendance on other days).  Note that work schedules and office reporting requirements may change from time to time based on business needs.

Responsibilities

- Carries out the function of collection of accounts receivable and past dues, and coordinates resolution of customer chargeback claims, disputes, and billing issues.
- Works with customers to resolve past due balances, billing discrepancies, and short payments.
- Process new account setups and request and provide trade references as needed
- Gathers credit and/or reference information.
- Maintains database by entering, updating, and retrieving data, as well as formatting and generating reports.
- Responds to inquiries from customers or external collection resources.
- Works on assignments that are moderately difficult, requiring judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations.
- Prepares, validates, and coordinates with the Customer Master Dept. in the set-up or modification of Sell-to Accounts.
- Reviews invoicing, purchase orders and other documentation to resolve billing disputes and ensure prompt collections.
- Researches and resolves account problems and discrepancies with sales departments and/or customer.
- Resolves charge backs and disputed items through contacts in the Billing and/or Sales departments and follow up with customer for prompt collection.
- Works with Accounts Receivable to assure the proper application of payments and credit memos.
- Receives telephone inquiries and answer routine questions on department policies referring unusual or non-routine matters to supervisor.

Qualifications

 
- Typically requires general education and/or vocational training plus 1 to 2 years of related experience, preferably in Credit and/or Accounts Receivable department.
- Must be comfortable working with figures and must use tact dealing with customers.
- Effective P.C. skills necessary, including intermediate Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong interpersonal, communication skills and ability to work under pressure.
In accordance withapplicable lawwe are providing the anticipated hourly rate for this role, if filled in Itasca, IL: $18.89 - $28.89.
