About the Role

Canon Financial Services in Mt. Laurel NJ is seeking a Staff Accountant Specialist (Specialist, Staff Accountant). The Staff Accountant Specialist organizes and maintains the company's business records through preparation of journal entries, reports and detailed analysis of accounts. Accountants are developing professionals, working toward full proficiency in the job role. They receive general instruction on expected work outcomes and exercise good judgment in day-to-day matters. They typically report to Managers, but may report to Managers, but may report to Supervisors or senior professional individual contributors when business needs dedicate. 
 
This position is full time and offers a hybrid work schedule requiring you to be in the office Tuesday and Wednesday and an option to work from home the remainder of the week (unless a specific business need arises requiring in office attendance on other days). Note that work schedules and office reporting requirements may change from time to time based on business needs.

Your Impact

- Participate in the monthly close process
- Reconcile high volume transactional balance sheet accounts
- Reconcile / Review / Record automated payment files, e.g. Lockbox, PaymenTech, Netting, and EDI, ensuring that all files balance to general ledger and bank statement
- Review / Update SOX documentation annually, including evaluation of internal controls and recommendations
- Responsible for financial and operational audits as requested
- Research and correct account discrepancies as needed for cash accounts
- Responsible for compliance of SOX audit
- Manage / Research / Resolve unallocated cash, including complex customer accounts ensuring Business Rules are adhered to
- Manage / Research / Resolve all payments received for end of lease activity, apply per intent to ensure proper gain/losses are recorded to general ledger
- Demonstrate expertise in Odessa, including underlying technologies and supporting systems
- Implement Business Process Improvements, while maintaining necessary internal controls
- Prepare / Record Sub Ledger journal entries
- Provide sound recommendations to solve complex issues
- Train / Mentor Operational Accounting Coordinators Organizes and maintains the company's business records through preparation of journal entries, reports and detailed analysis of accounts
- Accountants are developing professionals, working towards full proficiency in the job role

About You: The Skills & Expertise You Bring

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required, plus 3 years of related experience. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration, or equivalent work experience
- Experience Required: Three to five years professional experience, preferably in a high volume, fast paced Accounts Receivable or Accounts Payable section of a General Accounting group; proficient at Sub Ledger to General Ledger activities
- Leasing industry experience preferred, but not required

- Ability to research and resolve challenging payment / invoicing / contract maintenance issues

We are providing the anticipated salary range for this role: $43,888 - $63,160 annually
